Following a 6-week, hands-on group study on the Middle Ages with fifteen lively 6th graders, we invited many local students to participate in a ‘Middle Ages Through the Renaissance’ Market Day. We all celebrated with creative presentations, castle design display, Middle Ages dance, horse joust, and incredible assortment of goods sold by young merchants. This Market Day was a means to develop many skills: research, public speaking, art, teamwork, critical thinking, and economics. What an amazing experience of engaged learning!
